Back in February, BMW announced the introduction of a new Performance Power Kit for the BMW 135i Coupe and 335i models. BMW performance power kit was announced to include both software and hardware components that will give a boost to the existing models.

No pricing or additional information were released back then, but last week, BMW released an internal memo containing more information regarding the Power Kit, including pricing. As we mentioned back in February, the upgrade will come with a hefty price and it seems we were on the right track.

Will the performance boost overcome the high price tag? Let’s learn some more about the BMW Performance Power Kit.

The first rumors of a BMW Z10 model were encountered back in March when the UK based magazine Autocar wrote an article on the EfficientDynamics supercar being developed by BMW. The rumormill was mentioning a Vision Concept as the base for this smaller car with more modern styling than the Z8. Some CS Concept design cues were also rumored to be featured on the Z10 ED.

Several months later and Automobile Magazine does a follow up story on the BMW Z10 and brings upfront more inside information from the Munich based automaker. The Z10 is being engineered as a coupe and a roadster and with a target weight of 3,300 lbs. While the original plans included the powerful twin-turbo V8, recent developments shifted the strategy towards efficiency and a smaller, but still powerful six cylinder 3.0 liter twin-turbo engine is in the game.

On September 8, 1994, the first US made BMW 318i rolled off the line in Spartanburg, SC. Today, 15 years to the day later, BMW Manufacturing’s 1.5 millionth vehicle rolled off the line to celebrate 15 years of manufacturing excellence.

The1.5 millionth vehicle, driven in the ceremony by Associate Eileen Huffman, is a 2009 Monaco Blue BMW X6 xDrive 35i with oyster interior. The vehicle is right-hand drive and has been ordered by a customer in Hong Kong.

In addition to remarks by South Carolina’s Secretary of Commerce, Joe Taylor; Sky Foster and Ryan Childers, the BMW associates that presented the Spartanburg factory’s first vehicle to the world in September 1994 also reflected on their 15 years with BMW Manufacturing.
