 The BMW Z1 car is a two-seat soft top roadster. It uses the engine and transmission from the BMW E30 car 325 model mounted in a specially designed base frame or chassis, which is made from galvanised steel. BMW car's front suspension is re-worked 325 components, with a wider track. The rear bmw car's z1 suspension is the specially designed 'Z axle'. The most distinctive features of the body are the electrically powered doors, which in the open position drop down into the side sills, this creating the ultimate 'open car' when the soft top is lowered underneath its' flat cover. The first example of a Z1 BMW car was released by BMW to the press in 1986 and later officially presented at the 1987 Frankfurt Motor Show. Initial demand was so fierce that BMW had 5,000 orders before production began. Unfortunately, demand dropped significantly around 1988 and BMW ended production Z1 cars in 1991. There is speculation that this drop in demand was due to the introduction of the Mercedes-Benz SL (Brossaud, 1) and the early inflated demand from speculative investors.[2] In 1988, however, BMW was quoted as saying that they had 35,000 orders for Z1s. |

 The BMW E24 automobile platform was the basis for the first production of BMW 6 Series coupé, produced by the German automaker BMW between the 1976 and 1989 model years. Replaced by the E31 chassis 8 Series coupés, the 6 Series name reappeared with the BMW E63 chassis beginning in the 2004 model year. The E24 borrowed heavily from contemporary 5-series cars (E12, later E28). The successor to the E9 3.0CSi coupe, the 6 Series E24 sport coupes were produced from March 1976 to April 1989. Over 86,000 bmw E24's cars were built during the production run. The initial models of the E24 were the 630 CS and 633 CSi. The 633 had a 3210cc six-cylinder fuel injected engine producing 200bhp at 5500 rpm. The 630 CS had a 2986cc six-cylinder engine with a Solex 4A1 carburetor developing 184bhp at 5800 rpm. Standard transmission on both models was a 4-speed Getrag 262/9, with an optional 3 gear ZF HP-22 auto transmission. The suspension was a heritage from the E12 5-series, but it was refined for even better performance. Later, the 635 CSi, L6 and M6 models were produced. |
